Mental preparation is the first and most important step to enhancing response and improving the probability of courage.

Situational Awareness is more than See Something-Say Something.

Situational Awareness (SA) is the ability to understand what is happening around you and to use that to make better decisions. SA can be broken down into three key elements: Monitor, Assess, and Predict.

Stress can be controlled and panic can be prevented.

Control

Controlling stress that leads to panic is vital to enhancing response.  Intentional breathing and positive self-talk are two examples of powerful tools that help prevent panic and improve the probability of courage.

Do not let perfect be the enemy of good.

To combat analysis paralysis, it may be necessary to forgo perfection for timeliness so confidently go with an 80% solution. The 80% solution means that in a moment of decision, move quickly to implement a plan that most likely addresses most of the problem; once that plan is around 80% effective.
